TEMPER
Made to
wear in.
A workwear label identity carried entirely by what's sewn on: a woven label, a stamped button, a kraft hangtag, and a line about wearing things in.

A brand you only see
up close.
The brief
Create an identity for a small workwear label whose branding lives on trims rather than on the outside of the garment — a label, a button, a tag — and a lookbook language to match.
The response
Tempering makes metal harder by heating and cooling it; good workwear gets better the same way. The slab-serif wordmark and a small flame mark are made for woven thread and stamped brass. Rust, canvas, indigo and chalk are the colors the clothes already are.
Brand the trims, not the chest.
The wordmark appears on the woven label, the button and the hangtag — never printed across the garment. Quiet from across the room, unmistakable up close.
Slab serif for thread.
Slab capitals survive being woven at label scale and stamped into brass. A thin typeface would have disappeared.
One line, everywhere.
‘Made to wear in’ is the hangtag, the poster and the lookbook title. It is also the product promise.
Woven, stamped,
tied on.
Three carriers, one wordmark. The woven label is the primary mark; the button carries only the flame; the hangtag carries the line. Together they are the brand — there is no logo lock-up beyond them.
Slab-serif wordmark, flame mark, indigo label with cream thread, rust hangtag, brass button.
Garment fabric and color, the hangtag's second line (fabric weight, origin), and lookbook location.
Label: wordmark + flame. Button: flame only. Hangtag: wordmark + line. Poster: line large, wordmark small.

Worn in,
on the wall.
The lookbook language is a wall, a hook and a jacket. The poster carries the line and the wordmark small; the digital placement reuses the hero's trims. Nothing is styled — the clothes are shown the way they are kept.

What comes next
Before production: vector the wordmark and flame, sample the woven label with a trims supplier, and proof the kraft hangtag against real garment colors.
This is an independent fictional brand study, with no client commission or measured commercial results. Concept marks would need vector refinement and supplier validation before production.
